About Ben

Benjamin Laham is a New York City–based musician, currently substituting Keyboard 1 in Wicked on Broadway. Also an active composer and accompanist, he is a 2025 graduate of the Boston Conservatory at Berklee, where he majored in composition. Guided by a dedication to community in the arts, Laham strives to bridge musical tradition with the evolving landscape of contemporary culture.

Laham's work as a pianist is vast and varied; he is accomplished and proficient in a myriad of styles and settings. Working notably in the classical, jazz, and theater idioms, Laham is a skilled soloist, accompanist, and ensemble player.

Laham’s compositions draw on impressionistic color and late-romantic lyricism, blending the harmonic language of jazz with the dramatic energy of theater. Rooted in improvisation, his works are vivid, personal, and expressive.

Well-versed in both concert and piano conducting, Laham approaches each ensemble as a space for collaboration and connection, fostering artistry and mutual inspiration among musicians. Currently studying with Mark Shapiro, he aims to pursue a graduate degree in conducting.
